Many of Ray Tsalate's fetishes are depictions of regal Maidens dressed in their very best waiting to dance. At about 1 1/2" tall, 1" wide and 3/4" deep, an amazing burnished antler Maiden or Maiden Grandmother (one who has not had a baby but has mothered many) is identified by traditionally-styled whorled hair and the wearing of a shawl. Beautiful etching accents her hair, while pen shell eyes and a coral mouth are expertly inlaid. Colorful turquoise and red coral are also set. Burnished moccasins or boots are adorned with lapis lazuli, a lovely touch.
